Ice cream and other thoughts
It's been a hectic week. A private lesson student, lots of chiro and trying to stay ahead of my Tri Stars work outs.
Yesterday was a tiny bit of a break through in what felt like a struggle of a week. I've been going to chiro at the Total Body clinic with Dr Cali since last week. My left foot has been going numb when I run for about two years now and my back mobility was getting worse and worse. So upon recommendation from several Tri Stars team members I thought I'd try him. While it HURT………a lot! It made a difference. Two appointments in and lots of adjustments later things are a bit more comfortable. No build in my work outs this week but a bit more comfort in my life. Hoping the improvement continues and we eliminate the numbness when running.
Last night was my first confident swim since the MS Triathlon. While I'd been showing up and making an effort it felt like I was going backwards instead of progressing. Last night things started to come around again and I felt like it was a bit less of a struggle. Tomorrow I will try the harder workout in the big pool (yikes!)
The best part of the day was a friend bringing me some Cold Comfort Ice Cream she'd picked up for me. It was Dark Matter Beer flavour with Caramel swirls and OH MY it was by far the best ice cream I've ever had. It's a small batch ice cream company based right here in Victoria, they sell at Red Barn market if you live in west shore, try it, you won't regret it!

It's Bead Soup Reveal!
It's Bead Soup Reveal time!
Above is the pictures of the coup I received and the necklace I made using the light house focal, crystals, clasp and agate beads. I love it, it's so west coast the light house really is cool.
My partner is Maags Sarri and she also sent me a sec on soup that's still brewing. I was really touched to receive two soups and this one I have an idea for a boro cab clasp to go with it. Currently it all sits basking in the sun on my "gratitude ledge".
I sent Maags this, go check out her blog to see what she did with it!
Lori Anderson is our gracious host again, she does such an amazing job of organizing all this!

Best day ever!
See that pink swim cap at the very end? That's me swimming in my very first triathlon. It was truly the most amazing day ever!
The swim portion went well, I did the backstroke for about 3/4 of it but I am totally ok with that. I felt confident leaving the pool and a huge sense of accomplishment.
The transition isn't too bad, the race was staggered fairly well so the transition area was pretty quiet.
The bike went really well, there were a few "this is hard" moments on some of the hills and when it started pouring rain but all in all the bike was good.
The run OIY! It took about 2/3 of the run before my legs even felt like they were my own. I didn't expect that lead leg feeling at all. I guess it's common after coming off the bike but the run was a struggle.
Crossing the finish line, one of the best moments ever!

24 hour countdown is on
Tomorrow morning at 7:30 AM I start my first triathlon ever! I'm excited and anxious (swimming is STILL a big scary monster) and I'm proud. When I signed on with Tri Stars I really wasn't 100% sure I'd get through the whole training program. Many times throughout (usually swimming) I thought "WHY am I doing this? It's just too hard" it is a lot of work and a decent amount of time commitment.
Tomorrow my goal is to finish, I had debated setting my phone map ap to give me my bike and run time and I'm not sure if I will. I'm not sure I want the pressure of the clock on me, this is a non timed triathlon and I think for my first one finishing is enough. Hell I think training for it is enough!
I've enjoyed it a lot, met some truly amazing people and still hope to tackle open water swimming this summer. YES I said it out loud, I still hope to tackle the scary monsters in the lake.
