Have a close look

Have a close look at this piece, the colors are they something you like or do they seem to bright?

This is a copper pierced piece with a heat patina. Personally I love the look of the heat patina but I have heard a few comments that it’s too much, too bright. Do you think the birds get lost in the color or does it make them stand out?

Well in my mind there isn't ever a to bright. It may be brighter work than you normally do but there is always a place for that. I think I would still patina the chain it is a bit bright.

BTW I love your tools and would love to learn that twist forging.

Thanks everyone! Interestingly enough this piece sold at the fine arts show. So I guess working in colors other than what you normally would is sometimes a good thing!

I think it is spectacular, I love the vibrancy of the colors and the birds look great, I do agree with Beadbug, putting a patina on the chain would really make the piece pop.

Hey Nicole. I love this patina, it's gorgeous. The only thing I could say is the metal shining through right around the outline in some parts... that makes it look just a teensy bit washed out, making the bird shape a little hard to distinguish. The one on the right has the most of that effect happening. But I love all the color. So glad it sold!!
