What does your website do for you?

The Flaming Hot topic of the week is "what does your website do for you?" Well this blog is pretty much all the website I have! I have mulled over having a actual website several times, but I know I just wouldn't have the time to keep it up. So for now I am sticking with blogging.

This blog allows me to chat about my horses, our rodeo's, the weather, and glass and beads of course! I hope it gives others something interesting to read, but sometimes I wonder if I just ramble on to myself!

Pictures

The Flaming Hot topic for this week is pictures. I use a Fuji at the moment for my pictures, but have just bought a nikon D40 with a 60mm macro. I like my pictures but they just arent crisp enough. I have a friend (Nicole LeClaire Brown) take my photos for jury shots etc, and a D40 is what she uses. Then Andrea G mentioned she has a D70 I believe and her pictures are also stunning. SO camera shopping I went! I pick the D40 up in the next week and am not looking forward to the learning curve, I find learning new technology difficult, but I am looking forward to better pictures.

This disk set is new in my Esty. Brights for spring, with 5mm holes they have alot of design options.

BHB??

What does BHB stand for you are probably thinking? Big Holed Bead! I love this particular bead, so much I thought about keeping it. But up on ebay it went. I like the reactions that happened with the silver and base color, the dark purple dots with small bubbles trapped in them are my favorite part though. I may have to make another one for me!

Spring Cold

I seem to have caught a nasty spring cold. The worst of it is the coughing, yuck! I've been guzzling tea with lemon and honey to try and kick it. Lots of auctions on ebay this week, here's a couple of micro goddesses.

Caribbean Pendant

I have a rivited/capped pendant in my Etsy. I love making these! I use Jim Moore's riviting press, it really is easy to use and incredibly well made! It makes riviting so easy, I used to do it with a hammer and plumb bob, YIKES! No fun at all and I cracked alot of beads. This way is much more efficient and does a much nicer job. The cap is PMC made by ME! I learnt how to make the caps in Andrea Guarino's Masters Class I can't say enough good things about the class! Super fun, leanrt TONS and her studio is amazing!

Bunnies Everywhere!

Our bunnies are nesting everywhere! Now they are trying to dig a nest in Eazy's stall. Eazy is our steer wrestling horse the one on the right in the picture. He can chase a steer down at warp speed but bunnies, they are a whle other ball of wax! Tonight he stood outside his stall fretting when I went out to feed. Turns out a bunny was inside digging a hole for a nest. I put his supper inside figuring it was no big deal. WELL, he looked at me like "You want ME to go in THERE!" Apparently bunnies are very viscious! I covered over the hole (no nest in it yet) in hopes they bunnies will move over to the empty stall. Eazy's life would me much less stressfull if they did!

The Glass Haven Street Team

Since oppening an Etsy shop I've joined the Glass Haven Street Team. Etsy streat teams are all about promoting your work and Etsy shop. I like that it's a group of like minded artists getting together to help promote each other. Please go check the Team out! There's alot of super talented people in there!

I've put earring pairs in my Etsy. They are perfectly little matched pairs of beads, made on tiny mandrels. The bead holes are only 1mm so there is no owbbling on headpins! This pair is Posies.

Bunnies mean spring!

Baby bunnies mean spring around here! This little guy is residing in a empty stall we have. He's about the size of my fist!

These Egg Shell beads are the first pandora style beads I've made. They fit on Pandora, Biagia, Troll and Add A Bead bracelets. They really are fun!

Discounts

The Flaming Hot blog topic this week is giving discounts. Do you give discounts? Do you not? Why? I don't give discounts, well I do for direct family. I also don't wholesale. I don't work well with specifics looming over my head so I avoid special orders and wholesale. As for discounts, I think like most artists I don't price my work high enough. When I factor in the supplies, the time, the hydro to run the tools etc etc, I am probably not making a huge profit. Fortunatly I havent been asked for a discount all that often!

Harmonia

I have been thinking about doing galaxy goddesses for a while now. Eventually I'd like to put smaller constellation on their hips, maybe across their backs. This is the first galaxy goddess I've tackled. She's on ebay this week.

Harmonia

Harmonia was the goddess of harmony and concord. As a daughter of Aphrodite, she presided over marital harmony, soothing strife and discord; as a daughter of Ares, she represented harmonious action in war.
